Haoxuan (Eric) Xu
Who is Haoxuan(Eric) Xu?
Eric Xu is a young filmmaker working across both Chinese and American creative contexts, whose work moves fluidly between documentary and narrative forms. His practice focuses on personal experience, emotional subtleties, and the quiet tensions that emerge within contemporary life. Rather than treating film as mere storytelling, he approaches it as a language — one that reflects on memory, identity, and the passage of time.
His creative work spans multiple roles, including director, producer, cinematographer, interviewer, and post-production artist, forming a process that balances intuition with structure. Whether constructing fictional narratives or capturing lived reality, he emphasizes coherence across all stages of production — from conceptual development and on-set orchestration to editing and sound design — ensuring each project maintains a unified artistic vision.
Shaped by a cross-cultural upbringing, Eric’s perspective blends introspective sensitivity with a strong sense of observation, often exploring the relationship between individuals and their environments through restrained yet resonant visual expression. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Film Production at Emerson College, where he continues to explore film as a medium for emotional resonance and critical reflection, seeking a balance between form and meaning while developing a distinct cinematic voice.
